"Not that I don't enjoy a challenge, Princess, buuuuut..." Rocking on the balls of their feet, Ziggy was enjoying the moment before a fight, not batting an eyelid at the drop they could take from the balance beams. They had been sure to check for a waiting list before showing up - the twins up front had said there shouldn't be any real challenges soon, the nerve of 'em - and gave a little wave to the crowd that was forming. Two Gym Leaders having a fight, why wouldn't they want to watch? "Do I look like the parkour type?" Their usual grin was in place, eyes half closed as they slouched slightly.
One of these days Princess was gonna get them to go running and gallivanting about, go and ruin their carefully cultivated image of lazy energy. Today was not that day however! Decked out in a very fashionable, and not clashing with his blue and white colour scheme at all, was a neon orange set of helmet and pads. Did they specifically have to get that eye destroying neon? Nope (actually yes, yes they did). Did they specifically ask for a double battle to pull off some shenanigans? Maaaaaybe (yes). Were they trying to piss Princess off? Yeah (yes).
In Ziggy's defense, at least they didn't take the parkour challenge and just Teleport past. Cause they totally would've.They knew it. Jeanne knew it probably. Both their pokemon all knew it. And they weren't here to stir up trouble with the gym trainers, not unless they were specifically asked that was. So that left Ziggy up here, hands in pockets, hoping Princess wouldn't try to punt them off the ledge herself.

Why did this very event feel more wrong than being stuck in a room full of smelly socks? That smile, which she could never tell if it was devious, legitimate, or just plain creepy; was not helping that ominous foreboding that every string of her DNA was screaming at her. But alas he took advantage of the system... cursed smarter-than-he-looks man. An eyebrow twitched at his 'affectionate' nickname for her, her frown increasing with every second that sentence was prolonged.
"Not yet no." She'd answer that probably rhetorical question, tapping the wheel of her skates against her platform. Her own black and purple uniform fidgeted with each of her movements. What was he up to? No. That wasn't a real question. He was there to bother her, to annoy her, to bug her. That seemed to be a natural thing for him these days with his teleporting Butterfree. Why did his pokemon have to indulge him so..?
A heavy sigh left her, one eye glancing down toward the crowd then back up at his (hilarious) orange-blue clashing self. "Normally I would let my opponent decide which of my kids they don't want to fight but... since I know you I don't really want to give you that option." Wow, not subtle at all. Not one little bit 'Princess'. A double-battle, four pokemon... "Go ahead and pick if you want. Please say you don't want a handicap. Please." She said levelly.
Thankfully there was enough patience in her to not bombard him, just race over there and kick his smiling butt off that platform and into the light of the rink below. Oh it was just so tempting. But no, Jeanne would wait. Had to keep up appearances, flicking a lock of hair from her eyes. A wave down at her public with a mask of a 'happy smile' on her face. The other hand held firmly over the belt containing her poke`balls.

Ziggy snickered at Jeanne's reply, rolling around some pokeballs in their pocket. "A true ruler always takes care of her subjects, even the ones that forget the rules. Shame on me, not mentioning a ban!" Nodding at their words, Ziggy shrugged. "And who am I to deny such a benevolent ruler a request? Send out anyone you want, I am a challenger to be challenged, right?" Fighting the urge to bow, they settled for a wink. Riling up another gym leader was always worth getting in trouble from the Champion about 'disrupting the League's public image', or whatever. Better them then one of the newer leaders, yeah? ...says the person who had only been leader for a few years. Hey, Ziggy had experience with art critics and angry mobs, they can take it!
Though... it was very tempting to take the ever calm presence of Soie away, but it was also always fun to see the contrast between mienshao and Jeanne. Honestly speaking, they totally would've taken a hotheaded joke about banning away Coton away, but alas. Maybe if the mankey evolved, they could stir the pokemon and trainer up a bit in a future challenge!
Whoever they sent out, they already had their pair picked. Today's plot involved the sturdy and not really suited for balanced beams Payapa, and the easy to miss Peach. Running their fingers over the pokeballs in their pocket, making sure they had the right ones, Ziggy waited for Jeanne to send her pokemon out before tossing out their own with a lazy lob.

Somehow the way they stated that was less than comforting though she felt her breath flow more easily knowing he wasn't going to take the easier route. "Very well." Jean replied smoothly, unhooking two of her balls from the belt. "Lets play your Challengers game then." There was a shiver that came with that wink, a look of discomfort quickly spreading across her features. Must he do that? Shaking off the feeling was something of an effort, only ignored by the immediate eyes on them. They were up so high and yet the voices from the onlookers down below were loud enough to drown out the music. Best not destroy the show with all her internal goosebumps. A flick of her wrist would solidify her 'stage-mode' as the two poke`balls grew and released the pokemon within. The first defenders landing deftly on the beams just large enough to hold two of their kind side-by-side. Cuir and Plume, right off the bat it was obvious that Jean wasn't going to just let the bug leader lug brain around. Though his own choices were something she, sadly; expected. Cuir, being the playboy that he was; gave both a bugs a wink, pointing his rose at each of them before putting it back in his mouth. The groan from his Hawlucha buddy was more audible than it probably should have been, the bird giving the reptile a dead-pan stare before slowly shaking their head. "Game start." "Let's start it off with something simple shall we?" Jeanne called, crossing her arms. "Plume hone your claws, Cuir... Please stop winking at them and test the Joltic's agility with Brick Break." There was a blush from Cuir as he gave his 'Lady' a deep bow, deftly racing off after the bug while Plume sat back to rub their talons together for the extra sleek sharpness. Cuir would run along the beams, jump over the gaps to close the distance more quickly; one hand glowing as he prepared a Brick Break-chop toward the tiny tick. Ziggy Moon [Huehuehue]

Aw, no silk sleeves trolling. Yet. Seemed Princess was going her usual full throttle, the Limber and Shed Skin duo making Ziggy change gears before a single move had made contact. Well, now they got to use the funnier plan they had in mind, and see if it interacted with Shed Skin the way they thought it may.
"Alright Peach, off you go. Help Payapa make a pin cushion of our flirty lizard friend like we practiced." The two could deal with the birb later, prep be damned. That Aerial Ace was gonna be a problem now, and later, no matter what they did!
Checking her footing, Payapa tried to get ready to catch Peach while lobbing a thick arc of Toxic Spikes at Cuir. Though the speed of the scrafty's approach and Payapa's slow calculations sent many of the spikes tumbling to the ground below, enough had been set up for Peach to shoot down. Shivering at the fast approaching Brick Break, the joltik stood her ground before jumping at the swipe and rolling with the punch, flying away, but not without twisting some String Shot and Toxic Spikes around Cuir - and the beams!
Ziggy would have to be sure to give Peach a new ribbon for not freaking out and missing that String Shot. For now they settled for a thumbs up as the little yellow fuzz ball smacked into Payapa with a staticy yip! Though her bug typing and the angle she took the Brick Break gave her a bit of cushioning against the full damage, the joltik was still shaken. Payapa was her docile self as always as Peach scuttled and settled between her head horns, slim beams and large drop not registering as an issue.
Now came the real test - would the String Shot help guard against Shed Skin? Would the shed spikes at least stick to the beams when they dropped? And... well, there was a bird to worry about. Payapa was sure footed at the moment, but Ziggy wasn't too sure if she could react and stay balanced against both of the enemy fighting types!
