biography

Laurel grew up as a tomboy, in every sense of the word. How could she not? She was basically born and grew up covered in dirt because of her florist parents. She loved every second of it, too. Her parents, along with being florists, also had a great love for Pokémon and had quite a few of them helping out around their shop and gardens. It was when she was about eight that she met the first Pokémon that would become a part of her dream team as a Gym Leader - a Chikorita that she named Zahra. Laurel found him hurt, laying behind the back side of her parent's shop. She took him home and with her parents help, she nursed him back to health, and he became her first Pokemon.

She trained with Zahra over the next years, and slowly added more Pokemon to her team, along with learning the science to Botony. She trained hard in both, to be the very best she could be. Then, she heard that the previous Gym Leader, Ramos, was looking for someone to take her place. And it was an all Grass type Gym! Just her style, since that's what she had ended up with as she trained. Ramos took her under his wing, taught her how to be a Gym Leader, and the rest was history.

It's been a couple of years since Ramos retired and Laurel took over the Gym. Her humble parents couldn't be more proud of their Gym Leader/Botanist daughter.

- Resilient and a little stoic, Rowan hardly gets close to any other humans other than Laurel. He is loyal to her until the end, and is often seen by her side, ready to protect her from anything.

BiteRowan attacks his opponent with powerful jaws.
Vine WhipRowan extends long vines to hit his opponent sharply.
Leaf TornadoThe Carnivine surrounds his opponent in a whirlwind of leaves, damaging them.

IngrainRowan plants his roots in the ground in order to recover health.

- Levitate Cannot be hit by ground attacks, is immune to ground-type attacks.

- Holly

- While Rowan is Laurel's protector, Holly is more like her best friend. She has a bit of an attitude when it comes to fighting, but she does it if she has to.
- Leech Seed Holly produces seeds and tosses them onto her opponents feet. They pull HP from the opponent every so often, and send it to her to restore hers.
- Mega Drain Holly pulls HP from the opposing Pokemon with magic.
- Quiver Dance Holly performs a dance, and it raises her Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed by one stage for the duration of the battle.
- Petal Blizzard Holly sends a giant blast of flower petals at her opponent to scratch and damage them.
- Chlorophyll During harsh sunlight, Holly's speed is doubled.

- Zahra

- Very shy compared to the rest of the team, Zahra tends to try to hide his big body behind Laurel whenever someone comes to visit. He's even scared of her family. He's basically described as the "gentle giant" of the team, but he can pack a powerful punch in battle.
- Petal Dance Petals float around Zahra and are then whipped at the enemy two to three times.
- Solar Beam Zahra charges and blasts a beam of solar power at the opponent.
- Synthesis Restores Zahra's current HP based on the weather in the battle. Sunny conditions restore ⅔ HP, normal conditions restore ½ HP, and other conditions restore ¼ HP.
- Body Slam Zahra slams his body full force into his opponent and has a chance of paralyzing them.
- Overgrow When Zahra uses a Grass-type move, the power will increase by 1.5× if the user has less than or equal to ⅓ of its maximum HP remaining.

- Valerian

- Valerian always has to be the star of the show. He loves being flashy, and will do anything to get someone to pay attention to him. It gets him into trouble, but he doesn't mind because that just means more attention.
- Weather Ball Valerian balls together a cloud of pure weather and hurls it at his foe.
- Sweet Scent Valerian emits a sweet smell from the roses on his arms to lower the evasion of his opponent.
- Poison Sting He shoots a stinging needle at his opponent to do damage and has a chance of poisoning them.
- Magical Leaf Valerian sends blasts of leaves that burst at his opponent to deal damage.
- Poison Point When he is hit with a physical move that makes contact, there is a chance that the opponent will be poisoned.

- Cypress

- Very friendly and has never met a stranger. Cypress is always ready to be someone's friend and never thinks wrong of anyone, which can get him hurt. He's often called dumb by trainers and people around Laurel because of this.
- Aromatherapy Cures Cypress and all Pokemon in Laurel's party of sleep, poison, paralysis, freeze, and burn.
- Stun Spore Cypress shakes a yellow powder over his opponent to paralyze it.
- Petal Dance Cypress sends a vortex of petals to surround his opponent to hit for a few turns, but becomes confused afterward.
- Poison Powder Cypress shakes a purple powder over his opponent to poison it.
- Chlorophyll During harsh sunlight, Cypress' speed is doubled.
