Personally, Richter hated cities.[break][break]
They were always too noisy, too crowded, and the pace of life was always too fast. There was always that feeling that if you slowed down for even a second, you’d never be able to catch up again. And Richter hated that stress, the headache that came about from the atmosphere of cities. Sure, some of them were nice, but they were always too hectic for him to enjoy the place fully.[break][break]
Now compare a city with a town - a town was quiet, lethargic and calming. They were always serene, and it was rare to find a town as busy as a city. The laid-back and relaxed environment and few citizens was another charm, as it meant less constant chatter and slower pace of life. Granted, there were those few exceptions, but even the they were never as chaotic as a city. Towns were peaceful, and Richter appreciated that.[break][break]
However, a town never really paid well. With the modest lives their citizens led, it was rare to find anyone with something worth stealing. Usually, whenever Richter visited a town, he came back out empty-handed. Then again, that could also be due to the fact that there was just something about towns that made Richter uncomfortable with stealing in one.[break][break]
A city on the other hand was like a goldmine - with its rich populace who went about their days rather obliviously, it made pickpocketing and thieving rather easy, even with the police force present. There was never a time that Richter visited a city and gained nothing. That was why he always made it a point to visit one every so often. After all, he did have his grandparents to think about, asides from himself, and Dusk’s pay, while steady, wasn’t enough to care for three.[break][break]
That was also the reason why he chose to make a small detour before heading for his scheduled meeting with a newcomer to Dusk.[break][break]
Honestly, he didn’t know why he was chosen - he wasn’t good with social interactions, and even his superiors knew that. So why him? Anyone else could probably do a better job, that much Richter felt sure about. But he didn’t question his orders, because he can’t, so here he was, stalking the alleys of Lumiose with a loaded backpack to reach his meeting point, Magenta Plaza.[break][break]
"Just this meeting, then we’re done for today." A satisfied smirk was sprawled across his lips as he flicked off his midnight black gloves, switching them for another, lighter pair to complete his 'makeover'. There, no one would recognise him as the thief now. Though the bags might give it away… oh well. "Ahh, I can’t wait to count our earnings… Now where is the new guy?"
