HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? The day was bright and sunny, just like the weather channel had predicted, and Laurel couldn't be happier. The flowers in the garden were blooming and soaking up the much loved sunlight, and the petals were filling the grounds with color. Laurel had let her Meganium out of his Pokeball to enjoy the warmth, and he was currently stretched out in the grass next to the Gym Leader. The grass was high here, and it was in the far back of the Gym's grounds. She knew she wouldn't be bothered here, and she could enjoy her day off in peace, or so she hoped. Laurel laid back in the grass, completely obscuring her from view if no one was really looking. She pulled her ocarina out of her bag and blew a few cautionary notes on it, getting the feel for what kind of song to play. She looked over at Zahra, like he was going to be able to help her decide. "What do you think, Zahra?"The Meganium just shook his head, and laid it back down in the grass to doze off. "You're never any help, you great lug."She put her ocarina back to her lips and began playing the first few notes of a song she heard as a child. All Richter wanted was one day of peace, one day. Was that too much to ask for? [break][break]
Apparently it was, as Masquerade and Angel, being the little balls of energy they were, were scampering around the gardens of Coumarine, dragging both him and Spectre along as they explored the vast grounds of the gym with child-like curiosity. [break][break]
"Ugh, I can’t believe that have that much energy…" Richter muttered, and his words were seconded by a bark from the houndour, who looked just as exasperated as him to see Angel and Masquerade dancing around them without even seeming the slightest bit tired. How was that even possible? "C’mon guys… let’s rest a little.." [break][break]
But his words fell on deaf ears as the minccino and purrloin scampered off again, prompting the two tired males to give chase despite their aching legs. Sure they were used to long runs like this -courtesy of the police and their training- but even two hours was pushing it, and the two wanted nothing more than a cooling breeze and a chance to catch their breath, preferably with a nice, long sleep in a comfortable bed. [break][break]
"Just where are they going?" The outlaw wondered, as they followed the two females deeper into the gardens. It seemed as if the minccino and purrloin were following something, but Richter couldn’t detect what is was. Where they simply just following their curiosity then? But as it turns out, that wasn’t the case, and it was only when he heard the faint notes of a beautiful melody in the air did he realise what was guiding them. [break][break]
"Well, can’t blame them, it sounds nice… and thank Arceus, they’re finally slowing down." Relief flooded him and Spectre as the two pokemon in front of them started to slow their pace, soon coming to stop in front of a girl accompanied by a Meganium. In her hands the girl held an ocarina, and it was clear as day that she was the source of the wondrous sound that echoed around the garden which they stood in. [break][break]
"Well…would you look at that." [break][break]
Spectre could only give a faint bark as he laid down in the grass by Richter’s feet, as the human himself leaned against a nearby trunk some distance away from the four.

HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? Laurel was so completely lost in her musical trance, she almost didn't her the pitter patter of little paws coming closer to her and Zahra. But Zahra wasn't so easily entranced. He raised his long head, seeing the Minccino and Purrloin come their way. Laurel didn't notice, though. That was the thing about playing music, she almost never paid attention to anything else. It was a few more seconds of playing, and then she ended the song and opened her eyes. She saw Zahra wasn't snoozing anymore, and looked around. Her eyes landed on the two Pokemon. "Well, hey there. We don't have your kind of Pokemon in the gardens usually. Where's your trainer?"
She glanced here and there, trying to see if anyone was nearby. That's when she saw an unfamiliar form leaning against a tree not terribly far from where she was sitting. Her face immediately began to heat up from embarrassment. Had he heard her playing and stayed the whole time? Usually no one bothered her, or even knew she was the one playing. She got to her feet, biting her lip and trying to calm down. She approached the trainer, but stopped a few feet away. "H-hey, um. Are these your two Pokemon?" she said, gesturing to the Minccino and Purrloin. "Sorry if I pulled them away from you somehow.. I was just.." she trailed off, not entirely sure what to say. Her face was still bright red, she could feel it. Zahra got up, and stood slightly behind Laurel, cautious of the new person hanging out under the tree. "I'm Laurel, the Gym Leader here. I've never seen you around here before."Words: 277 Tag: Li Wei Ming, RichterNotes: Haha, Laurel doesn't know what to do when people hear her play. xD

Richter quirked an eyebrow at the girl, surprised by the blush that coloured her cheeks. What was there to be embarrassed about? Her playing was excellent, so there was no need to be shy. There was no need for that apology either, since it wasn’t like she was deliberately luring them here. [break][break]
"It’s fine, it’s fine…I’m used to them running around." Richter said, waving off her concerns with one hand. He should probably have been more worried that he was talking to a gym leader considering his current status, but for some reason he felt no need to take caution. …That Meganium however did unsettle him. It seemed to possess a more imposing presence than that of its trainer. "They’re always easily distracted, so after a while, you learn to get used to it. …Nice to meet you, Laurel. I’m…Wei Ming. And I’m not surprised - I’m new to Coumarine. Just stopped by for a little break from our….journey. We’re planning to leave tomorrow."[break][break]
Identity was everything to a criminal, so he never used his english firs name with another unless it was say… another dusk member. They were in the same boat together, so while he wouldn’t trust them a hundred percent, he could at least trust them with his name. They wouldn’t rat him out, if only because they couldn’t, unless they wanted to end up on Dusk’s hit list, since Dusk took…extreme care with those who would betray them. But with a stranger like Laurel, however, it was safer to use his other first name, as it was one that few people knew him by.

HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? She was starting to come out of her embarrassment and she could feel her face starting to lose it's bright red color. That's a relief, Laurel thought. She kept her eyes on the stranger, but put a hand up on the side of Zahra's head almost automatically. He never really liked strangers, but he usually acted a lot more shy, not suspicious. But then again, Zahra had always been a little weird around anyone, it didn't really matter who they were. "Just a warning, we do have wild Pokemon hanging out in the gardens and up in the branches of the Gym," she said, waving her free hand toward the giant tree that housed the City's Pokemon Gym. "They can get kinda territorial if they see strange Pokemon without a trainer with them."She hoped she didn't sound threatening, it was really just a warning. But it was also weird how much he put her off. Something about him wasn't right, it was like he paused in his speech, trying to pick his words carefully. She decided to ignore it. Maybe that was just the way he spoke. "It's nice to meet you too, Wei Ming. Leaving tomorrow? Have you been here long? We have a lot more to do than just see the gardens, you know. The City is full of things to do." She knew she totally sounded like a tour guide, but she couldn't help it. She loved people seeing this city for how great it is. "It would probably burn off these guys' energy a bit and they'd stop dragging you around," she said with a laugh and gesture to his two little Pokemon. "I'm sure Zahra wouldn't mind playing with them, either. Would you, Zahra?"The Meganium looked at her, then nodded his head in agreement. He wasn't usually scared of other Pokemon, just their trainers. Words: 311 Tag: Li Wei Ming, Richter Notes: It's a little rambly, I think.. ><

[nospaces] [attr="class","darksrc"] [attr="class","flavi"] [break][break] [attr="class","flavourtext"]Just once more unto the breach, “Dear friend, once more.” [break] [break][break][break] [attr="class","flowtent"] Richter wasn’t worried about the wild pokemon. In fact, he was worried for them. Despite their childish behaviour, Masquerade and Angel were actually good fighters, and he was confidant that had any pokemon tried to attack them, even without his or Spectre’s help, the two would be able to defeat them. Or in Masquerade’s case, trick them into…well, running away maybe? The Purrloin was a crafty pokemon, and Richter wouldn’t be surprised if that actually happened.[break][break]
"They can take care of themselves." He responded to Laurel’s concern with a shrug, eyeing his minccino and purrloin. They were currently hovering around the Meganium, Angel staring at it with wide, awe-filled eyes while Masquerade switched between bothering it and Laurel by rubbing against her leg and purring. [break][break]
"Don’t bother Laurel…" A warning, but not one that was threatening. Simply more of an advice than anything. But of course, Masquerade being Masquerade, ignored Richter’s words, seeming to purposely just stick closer to Laurel after he said that to spite. It was sort of comical to see.[break][break]
"We were hoping to continue our journey as soon as possible, so preferably this will be our first and last day here…However, I won’t say no to draining these two’s energy. They simply have too much." It wasn’t so worrying to let them go with another pokemon - it wasn’t like they’d say anything to Zahra that would give them away as Dusk members. As innocent as they seemed, they weren’t so dull. [break][break]
Hearing what Richter said, Masquerade and Angel practically glowed with delight, and the purrloin finally left the gym leader alone, favouring fawning over her Meganium to bothering her. Spectre on the other hand, found it more preferable to to stick by Richter’s side, actually growling when Richter quietly proposed the idea of having him follow the other three pokemon. In the houndour’s mind, it was unthinkable to leave Richter alone without any pokemon, as it meant Richter could probably get hurt. And after losing his first owner, Spectre didn’t want that.

HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? As she listened to him talk, Laurel could feel the cat Pokemon purring and threading through her ankles. She smiled a bit to herself, glad that the Pokemon had taken such a liking to her. She had decided not to really respond to that taking care of themselves comment, she could definitely tell that they could. The claws on that Purrloin were probably enough to scare off anyone. She waved her hand idly, "No, she's not bothering me! It's kind of cute, actually. None of my Pokemon are small enough to do this." It was true, most of her Pokemon were pretty big, save for her Roserade, maybe. Zahra made a happy noise as the two other Pokemon started fawning over him. "I'm glad we could help," Laurel said with a laugh, looking at the Pokemon together. "I'll release a couple more of mine so they have more to play with." She grabbed a couple of Pokeballs from her belt, and with a flash of red, released Holly and Valerian. Holly greeted the other Pokemon with a small trill of excitement, and typical Valerian immediately began to show off with his roses. Laurel rolled her eyes. "Sorry about him, he's a bit of a ham."She eyed the Houndour, then raised an eyebrow. "He wouldn't want to play, too? Too attached, huh?" Laurel didn't really like the sound of that Houndour growling. To be honest, dog-like Pokemon had always freaked her out a little bit, but she wasn't about to let anyone know that. She watched hers and the strangers Pokemon take off a little ways into the field and begin playing. At least they seemed to be getting along fine. "Maybe your Houndour would want to hang out closer? Come on out, Rowan!" She grabbed another Pokeball and released her Carnivine. It probably wasn't completely true that she wanted him to play with the Houndour. She mostly wanted him out just in case something happened. It seemed like the Houndour had the same idea about her. Words: 337 Tag: Li Wei Ming, Richter Notes: N/A

On one hand, he was relieved and grateful that Laurel had helped to occupy his two energetic pokemon, but on the other he was cautious and suspicious of her aid. Not many people helped him, though perhaps that was also because he never let them help him. [break][break]
As someone who’s been on the streets for so long, Richter just grew accustomed to having to suspect others, especially since the group he grew up with drilled that into him. Really, they were the only people Richter could claim as 'family' aside from his own. Dusk…was more like a hostel, some place he’d stay at for a while before having to leave when and if he could.[break][break]
"Don’t worry… I think they’re getting along." In response to Laurel’s comment about the Roserade, Richter simply gestured to Angel, who was in turn showing off her sparkling tail and fur. How alike… He almost deadpanned at that. Really, to think Angel had something in common with a gym leader’s pokemon…[break][break]
"You could say that." He murmured, poking Spectre in the side with his foot. He wasn’t worried about getting attacked, Spectre was too fond of him to try. Besides, they’d done this many times before, especially since Richter sometimes had to wake Spectre up. And let’s just say, waking up a houndour who knows fire-type attacks aren’t the most safe of things.[break][break]
"Tends to never leave my side, so if you can get him to move from here to there… congrats." At those words, the houndour just glared at Richter, sitting on his heels with a huff and turning his head away from the two humans and carnivine. "…He gets pouty."
Spectre nearly choked on air.

HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? Laurel's Carnivine wasn't at all disappointed when he saw that the Houndour didn't want to play. He wasn't really one to play, instead he just stood next to Laurel, eyeing the other Pokemon warily. The sounds of the other Pokemon playing nearby drifted over on the breeze.
Laurel scratched the back of her head, grinning sheepishly. "Yeah, Rowan here can get that way too." The Carnivine gave her a look, and turned his head away from her but kept a side eye glance toward the two strangers. "I guess they're one the in the same." Rowan huffed.
The Leader knew she should be on her guard, this guy was new after all. But she couldn't help but be friendly when their Pokemon got along so well. Well, most of their Pokemon, she thought with a slight split-second glare toward Rowan. He never got along with anyone, he always stuck around with her when she let him out of his ball.
"Well, if you're only here for a day, could I ask if you're a trainer? I'm assuming since you're traveling with so many Pokemon." She wanted to learn more about this guy. Yeah, she was being friendly, but he looked a little imposing.

[nospaces] [attr="class","darksrc"] [attr="class","flavi"] [break][break] [attr="class","flavourtext"]Just once more unto the breach, “Dear friend, once more.” [break] [break][break][break] [attr="class","flowtent"] "Heh, I’m sure they’d be great friends if they were a little more social." Richter said, after hearing what the gym leader had to say about her carnivine. She wasn’t wrong to say they were pretty alike, and he gathered that if it was another time the two pokemon -and perhaps him and Laurel? …No, that would be too far.- would more than likely have been the best of friends, and mother hens besides.[break][break]
But I’m working with Dusk and am a wanted cat burglar…[break][break]
So unfortunately that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon, as much as he’d like for his pokemon to have other friends beside each other. Forgive me for having chosen this… For a brief moment, something akin to sadness flashed in his eyes as his gaze shifted to Spectre, and he remembered the consequences his actions had, how it impacted not only him but his beloved pokemon. [break][break]
Sometimes, he just wanted to free them, so they could have a chance at a better life, one with other pokemon and maybe even a better… trainer. But this was something he could not do, because he had promised his brother he’d take care of them, and even if the life they’re living right now isn't the best…he couldn’t just leave them.[break][break]
"A trainer? Yeah, I guess you could say that." A shrug complements his reply as his gaze returns to Laurel. "But not really I guess? More of a…traveller. I can’t stay in one place for ling - it doesn’t feel right. And as my family…my pokemon follow." That wasn’t a lie: Richter didn’t like to stay in one place for long at all. He just had this innate need to wander, ever since he was a child. It was something he couldn’t explain in words.
